Month 5 Week 2 – Water, The Downside

Last week I told you you needed to drink water. I gave you some numbers and even showed you easy ways to accomplish your goal. This week I’m going to talk about my number one gripe with drinking all this water. The bathroom.

Every half hour I am in the bathroom peeing. I have never peed this much in my life. Even when I was pregnant with my sons I was not in the bathroom this much. I quickly began to realize this is why I didn’t like drinking water. Ok one of the reasons.

Now let me be clear. I am currently working from home and for me to go to the bathroom requires me to walk twenty steps. Yes I’m lazy. Yes I’m trying to get better, but it’s still annoying. I feel like you are judging me.

So why a post about the bathroom? I needed a place to share this story and this seemed like as good a place as any. I have been getting my water in daily. I have been religious about grabbing my little cup and getting all my water in. Since the weather has warmed up I decided to start going for one mile walks outside. The other day I got myself all ready and headed for my walk. I got two blocks away from my house and discovered I had to go to the bathroom. I knew that there was no way I was going to make it through the whole walk without peeing my pants. Yep you guessed it, I turned around and went back home. After I got home and used the bathroom I got myself together and went on my walk again.

I’m lying. You know I’m lying. I was done. I had made my attempt and it had failed. You know who I blamed.? Water. Drinking water was now beginning to interfere with my weight loss. I know I sound like a lunatic right now but I had to blame somebody or something. I didn’t want to blame myself for not wanting to finish the walk. Water was the logical choice.

I didn’t stop drinking water after the incident and I’m still trying to get these eight glasses down each day. I now make sure I go to the bathroom before I attempt to leave the house. I feel like a kid or an old person. I know drinking water is going to get easier and I know I will stop going to the bathroom twenty times a day, but it sucks. I just figured since I’ve told you about all the benefits of drinking water I should tell you about the one drawback.
